About this deal

In pairs I would then ask them to identify difference and similarities between each other. I would hope that the book would help younger children to see that it doesn't matter the colour of your skin, what food you eat or the clothes you wear - we are all equal. Eva Rothschild (born Dublin 1971) lives and works in London. Predominantly sculptural, yet highly conceptual, Rothschild’s work is rendered in a varied range of materials including aluminium, jesmonite, leather, wood, tiles and paper. Her work references art movements of the 1960s and 1970s, and is also informed by the aesthetics of protest and spirituality. Rothschild is concerned with the physical experience of sculpture and our relationship with objects and ways of looking. she has a materials based studio practice but also works on major public and outdoor commissions. This book does not have a plot to it. It shows that no matter where in the world you live or the colour of your skin - we are all one.

Planning for the 'Ourselves' topic at EYFS will help you provide learning opportunities which are varied, allowing for both adult-led and child-led development. It's a great topic to help children get to know their peers at the start of a new year, while giving them the chance to share about themselves too. They can see what they have in common, as well as what makes them different. It's a fab chance to help children learn all about different kinds of people and help them learn about a world outside their own home.

Which areas of learning are targeted in this planning resource?

My World and Your World is the artist’s first permanent commission in London, and the first permanent artwork at King’s Cross. Rothschild describes the piece as a ‘social sculpture’, an invitation to explore the park, and a place at which to meet friends, have a play or a picnic. Expressive Arts and Design - Through creating group displays, mirror activities and experimenting with texture.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development - Through encouraging teamwork, circle time games and group activities.

She just missed having her third #1 when her covered version of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" peaked at #2 in 1965... She had only two more records make the Top 100 chart; "It's For You" (peaked at #79 in 1964) and "Alfie" (reached #95 in 1966)... It was only a few months ago when I heard this version on a Music 60s TV Channel, Not seeing the screen, I thought, "Wait a minute. What's Helen Reddy doing on a 60s channel?!" Mrcleaveland from Cleveland,She had another single around the same time called "It's For You." Terrific song for its time. Using 'Ourselves planning' helps teachers and practitioners to really understand their children and gain greater insight into their lives. It also helps children to express themselves and learn more about their peers, encouraging empathy and celebrating diversity.
