For a book with a cover and synopsis like this one, I was really expecting something more engaging. there was only one other thing that i liked in this book, and that was the urban fantasy aspect. if you know me at all, you would know that new york is literally my favorite place on earth. like actually. i spend an unhealthy amount of time wishing i was in new york. so, obviously, when i learned this book took place in new york city, i was jumping for joy. i was disappointed by many things in this book, but definitely not by the nyc parts. the way the storyline fit into the city and its people was awesome, and i really appreciated that the main character had such a deep love for her city. because, relatable. (i meant that its relatable in the sense that i love nyc, not my own city. i live in dc. i used to think it was cool. then the capitol got stormed and i could barely leave the house.)At the beginning, after suffering from betrayal of sister, Athena who is still terribly wounded makes a smart deal with Lore which both parties will get their revenges even though it means shedding more blood. don’t you just love it when one of your most anticipated releases of the year is not that good? anyways i’m still debating about my star rating. probably two stars. maybeee three. i’ll think about it. rtc. This book has interesting and intriguing plot line but the execution of the idea and overloading of action scenes make you roll your eyes! Too much happening in a short time period! You just get agitated at each second with too many triggering, ultra depressing subjects including terminal illness, gory, bloodshed for fight scenes, extreme violence, rape, sexual assault, slavery etc.

In fact, I do believe this is the kind of story specifically oriented towards a type of reader. Meaning: a young reader, kind of new to the genre - maybe even to reading in general -, is most likely to love the novelty of it in comparison with someone that was there when the first Hunger Games book was published.Who doesn't love friends to lovers? I loved the romance. It was perfectly balanced as the sub plot! I love Lore and Castor and ofc Miles and Van. So the story is kind of complicated but I will simplify it as much as I can .. so we have 9 Greek gods led by Zeus .. these gods abused their powers on humanity to punish them Zeus decided to make an Agone, it's a competition for a week, during this week these gods become human and actually can die by special people called Hunters and these are people who are descendants from legendary Greek heroes, and once one of them kills the god the person who killed him\her gains their power and honors his family and this has gone on for 1400 years .. So this year the Agone began and we are following Lore who is the last of her bloodline as she tries to avenge her family from the one who killed them by working with Athena who is a god *GASP* and the whole book is set during the week of this time's Agone i dont have anything negative to say about this books writing, but i dont have anything positive to say either. it was nothing special. honestly, it was just insanely average.
