About this deal

The camera lens itself has an excellent 70° field of view, and you can switch between three viewing modes with a single button. If the image on the screen is upside down, you can flip it through 180°. It’s a useful little feature you’ll use more often than you think. The most important thing to consider before buying an endoscope is what devices it will be compatible with. Many of the endoscopes on our list work via Wi-Fi with smartphones, while others connect via USB cable to certain phones and computers. Many inspection cameras come with LED lights, meaning you can collect footage even in dark areas. A camera without LED lights will be fairly useless in areas behind walls, deep into drains or other areas that don’t receive a lot of natural light. If you’re working in tight spaces and need the maneuverability that shorter cable endoscopes offer this is going to be right up your alley.

First off, and what makes this the best inspection camera on my list is the dual-camera setup. Not only do you get the main front-facing camera, but another one pointing at 90° for an unbeatable field of view. Like choosing any other camera, there are also variations in focal distance, frames per second, and pixels to compare. Generally speaking, the longer the focal distance range, the better for sharp images. More frames per second means you’ll observe smoother motion in videos. As far as pixels go, the higher the pixel density, the crisper the image. The DEPSTECH 1200P Semi-rigid Wireless / Wi-Fi Endoscope is our favorite, due to its waterproof frame, semi-rigid cable, and bright LED lights. Next is the BlueFire Semi-Rigid Flexible Wireless Endoscope, which also has a semi-rigid cable, an adjustable LED light, and 720p resolution. Its small battery keeps it out of the top spot. The AnyKit 1200P USB Endoscope can attach to most computers, includes a semi-bendable cable, and has a low price that makes it the best overall value for the money here. The ILIHOME WiFi Endoscope does a few things right. Like others on our list, it connects to your smartphone via WiFi, so you do have to have one of those devices to use it. It’s waterproof, which is very important given that you never know when you may run into a puddle or moist environment that could ruin an unprepared endoscope. It also comes with 1200p resolution, which is pretty good among affordable endoscopes. Camera: The commercial-grade camera takes high-definition pictures and videos in 640 x 480p, 1280 x 720p, 1600 x 1200p, and 1920 x 1080p resolutions. It has zoom and live-recording capabilities to capture better shots of the areas you’re inspecting.

WHAT ELSE WE CAN DO

Memory card storage: most borescopes offer fixed internal storage but some have removable SD cards – useful if you need to offer images to a client. While you may be hoping to get a camera that provides crisp full-HD video, the miniaturization that goes into this process means that full-HD video can be really expensive in endoscopes. However, you still have some options that can deliver crisp video without a huge price tag. The operating instructions are in German. The description of the instructions is good and sufficient. The app itself is spartan, but sufficient. This allows you to take photos and videos, connect to the camera and set the resolution.

iron pipes, which are often too old, is more problematic... as soon as I'm in the cast iron pipe with the endoscope, I can't do it push it deeper, because the factory attachment of the endoscope gets caught on every unevenness in the cast iron pipe and you can hardly move a millimeter further... Those that need all kinds of bells and whistles and next level durability/flexibility from their endoscope should expect to spend quite a bit more than those that need a pretty basic or bare-bones endoscope every now and again. The handheld screen section feels rugged, with rubberised orange grips on either side. You can quite easily control the device with one hand, thanks to the well laid out rubberised buttons along the bottom. Cycling through the options is straightforward and easy to work out too. Transferring the image from the camera to the smartphone is wonderful. No delays or transmission errors.

This particular endoscope is one of the most popular options for those outside of the medical industry for good reason – it’s one of the most capable, flexible, and high-performing endoscopes you’ll find on the market today at a very fair price point.A. Yes. In fact, investing in a wireless endoscope is a cost-effective option for mechanics and car enthusiasts alike. You’re able to see hard-to-reach areas to diagnose issues without removing larger parts that are time-consuming to take apart and reassemble. It also saves you the hassle of lifting your car to get beneath it, because you can simply inspect the bottom from a standing position once you manipulate the semi-rigid cable appropriately. The video and photos you can capture with this endoscope will be crystal-clear thanks to the inclusion of six adjustable blue spectrum LED lights on the probe, allowing you to tinker with the brightness so that you can capture images or video effectively without washing them out.

Some endoscopes can be extended with extra cables and aftermarket components but you always run the risk of sacrificing some clarity and stability when you start to tinker with the setup your endoscope comes with right out of the gate. The engineering under the hood of this endoscope provides for a semirigid cable nearly 33 feet long, long enough to reach almost anything that professionals, homeowners, DIYers, and hobbyists would like to look at – with plenty of room to spare! The HD camera on this particular model measures in at just 5.3 mm in diameter (0.21 inches), making it ridiculously small and compact and about 1/3 smaller than your traditional 8 mm diameter cameras you will find on so many other options. This allows this camera probe to go places that other cameras cannot, but also gives it a lot more flexibility and a lot more versatility in reaching tight corners and hard-to-find areas as well. It remains to be seen whether the battery lasts as long as the camera itself; unfortunately, in my experience, the batteries don't last that long. The AnyKit 1200P USB Endoscope is the one to get if you’re looking for an endoscope you can use with a desktop or laptop computer. It’s not Wi-Fi-powered like the previous ones, but instead uses a USB connector to work with Android phones or Mac or Windows computers. Since it isn’t battery-powered, you don’t have to worry about charging it, which can save you some time and potential frustration. It also comes with a semi-bendable cable so you can position it as needed to get the proper view. The adjustable LED lights mean you can use the proper amount of light for the scene you’re observing.
