About this deal

Yes, it can be tricky to think of unique cues to narrow people toward a certain color space, but I like challenges. Each round, one player draws a card containing a swatch showing four of the many colours found on the Hues and Cues game board - which runs the gamut from lime green to magenta - with each colour corresponding to a different location on the game board. Gather around with three to ten people to play a quick and simple game with a prism of possibilities! Since everyone imagines colors differently, connecting colors and clues has never been this much fun! Then in games where your player color doesn't matter you get your most preferred color that is a color available in the choosen game.

To do so, the active player needs to carefully select a phrase they think accurately describes the colours on the swatch and communicate this to the other players, much like party board game Codenames. offers two ways to play the game depending on the ages of those playing, but they generally play the same. It really needs playing in daylight or with a daylight light bulb, we played it twice over Christmas, both times with normal electric light and it is quite difficult to match the colours. Because then I had a chance to give another cue — up to two words to help zero them in on the right space.

The best part about Hues and Cues is that it can accommodate a large number of players — up to ten in fact. If this is on, the player always sees his own pieces as blue, the enemies pieces are always red, and ally pieces are always yellow. Hues and Cues is a vibrant game of colorful communication where players are challenged to make connections to colors with words. Browse color schemes to find color inspiration from board game color palettes and choose the perfect color combinations for your designs. After this second pass, the cue-giver places the scoring frame on the board so that the target color is in the center of the scoring frame and players score points.

Players describe a color (in one word) for others to guess on a color board, testing perception and communication skills. Hues and Cues can be a great choice when you’re looking for a something to fit a large group (especially with game adverse players,) and we’re breaking it all down in this review! They provide lots of opportunities for color recognition, reading and writing color words, coloring, and more! I could take the blue pieces in every game I play, and so could one of my buddies, and it would never clash because I can see him as a different color, while he sees me as a different color. The one area where we’ve deviated from the game rules is having all players draw cards at the outset. In most games it doesn't really matter what color you are by the rules, and people don't chat about the pieces by their colors, so allowing each player to choose whatever color they want should be easy. Please try again later as the restrictions may be lifted, or contact your service provider if the issue persists. They say it's a great game that all the family can play, it'd be good for a challenge, and is different to most other games on the market. So for me, when a parameter was put in place that a color and number may not be in a consistent relationship such as found in the color-by-number activities, and the ability to creatively express oneself through coloring isn’t present, then something has to give.
