About this deal

These are modern electronic lenses, why can't Nikon make them work across their bodies (they all aren't even compatible across DSLR bodies let alone with the Z bodies). This service supplies software that can be used to update the firmware for the FTZ mount adapter to version 1. Many of those 270 lenses that don't have AF, AE and VR support on the FTZ DON'T HAVE AF, AE and VR regardless. As this page is copyrighted and formally registered, it is unlawful to make copies, especially in the form of printouts for personal use. The good news is that you can find used FTZs for not that much now, and I'd expect a continuation of the bundle deals with the FTZ II in future.

So you don’t want to upgrade to a Z camera because of how important AF on old Nikon lenses is for you… but you will be migrating to Canon where these lenses won’t be usable at all? Plus, they gain so much—smooth, fast Hybrid-AF*, silent shooting, breakthrough low-light performance, the benefits of in-camera VR image stabilization when used with Z cameras that feature in-camera VR and more. If they put out an FTZ III with a motor in it that made 100% of their lenses compatible would you suddenly change your view that "They didn't have a good mount design strategy"?I'm glad Canon didn't compromise the RF lens mount trying to accommodate compatibility for 8 Canon EF-M lenses. This is an invaluable image tool, allowing you to use your older kit, including large-scale telephoto lenses. In this context, the FTZII seems to be just a foot-removing motor swap on the FTZ rather than the LA-EA5-ish adapter Nikon should really be offering.

Distortion corrections aren't always complete and some distortion may be left even with distortion correction turned on, for instance with the 28-300mm VR.

While compatible with approximately 360 distinct F-mount lenses, this adapter is especially ideal for use with over 90 E, G, and D-type lenses, where it fully maintains autofocus and auto-exposure capabilities for seamless use of the SLR lenses on the mirrorless body. Sony's first adapter, the LA-EA1, only had a motor for the aperture, but the LA-EA2 added one for the focus screw drive. Canon EF came out in 1987 and every lens had the AF motor in the lens, and Canon's in lens Image Stabilization was released in 1995 (just 3 after AF-D's release in 1992). But if you can use your hand to turn that focus ring on those lenses the pictures are still just as good as they were in 1986 on a Z camera. The adapter only works properly (autofocuses) with Nikon's newest lenses, which are those with built-in AF motors ( AF-I, AF-S and AF-P).

very little about what is actually interesting - how Nikon managed to re-work and re-design the motor in the FTZ. Distortion corrections aren't always complete and some distortion may be left even with distortion correction turned on, while with some lenses like the complex 14/2. Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The Mount Adapter FTZ allows long-time Nikon users to continue utilizing their existing NIKKOR F lenses seamlessly with the new system. AI-P work about the same as old AF lenses from the 1980s: they are manual focus with full EXIF communication and exposure control.
