About this deal

When compared to the embarrassingly anaemic Street Fighter V, seeing a game that is so absolutely stuffed with content is great. It's not polished as Street Fighter V, but the gameplay is fast-paced and fun, and bound to keep your stomach full for a long, long time.

Last year’s entry into the Mortal Kombat series missed our review team at the time but I picked it up a little while after it came out and it was a real surprise. Following on from the global success of Mortal Kombat™ X, the game combines all the excitement and action from Mortal Kombat™ X with brand new content that isn’t available in the standard edition, allowing for more gruelling action and vicious fatalities. Set on a strictly 2D plane but with fully 3D graphics (a’la Street Fighter 4), the gameplay feels like classic Mortal Kombat fare. The cutscenes are well detailed and, if you execute the right button press sequences, you can determine what the outcome will be. Awsome Game, brings back lots of nostalgia and alot of new stuff to the table, great to play with a bunch of friends in the same room or online. It's not the greatest, nor the deepest, fighting game around, but it is gleefully gory fun for long stretches. My only gripe with it is the lack of stage variety, some stages look similar where they could have been a little more creative but that's the nitty gritty.

The fatalities in this game are so gory, that it make fatality moves from the last game look tame in comparison.I do enjoy this game a little more than the previous installment, mainly due to the more attractive character roster, I only found myself playing three of the characters last time because they were the only one's that appealed to me but hey ho! Mortal Kombat XL is the definitive version of one of the best fighting games of this generation and is well worth a look.

For the first time, Mortal Kombat™ XL introduces 4 new DLC characters into the mix along with a brand new environment, the Pit.

With improved netcode and all balance fixes NetherRealm has released so far, Mortal Kombat XL is nearly a flawless victory. It also has a single player story which I haven't played yet but from what I've seen it'll take you through cut scenes, telling a story with many fights in between depending on who you meet. These share a fatality move set unfortunately but it’s still a nice way to add some extra characters to the game. And not only do you not have to pay through your teeth for extras (at all) the games towers are updated with new challenges weekly.

Packed full of content and brimming with humour and gore in equal measure -well, probably more gore than humour to be honest – the game ended up being the best fighting game I had played in years, taking a thoroughly high production values approach to the gameplay of the early games in the series. It’s faster and fancier than most fighting games and has lots of fun little aspects to the gameplay such as the brutal X-Ray moves which can turn a fight for you and background interactions that also make things a little more interesting. WELL DONE MK XL this game is the most refreshing and the very least disappointing game I've bought in a long, long time. Aside from all the early DLC content (with characters like Goro, Jason Vorhees and Predator), you also get the second season pass pack which adds some very interesting characters. You'll most likely have to play as all the characters as well, somewhat forcing you to have a general handle of what each character plays like. Each character has different ending on the main tower, and beating your previous records are what make you come back to try the endless tower. They mention that the graphics and overall gameplay is great, and the multiplayer is really addictive. It’s one thing getting extra campaigns via DLC but when it is just characters and skins, it all feels a bit of a rip off to me.
