About this deal

Adiviné el quién desde que apareció en escena, pero fue por puro pálpito (ya es mucha negra la que llevo a la espalda), y no porque fuera previsible. From this haunted dwelling to a reform institution, Richard learns of a dark magic that is possessing Ballantyne and is actively pursuing his destruction. Trouble magnet Harry Hole — last seen in Knife (2019) — is drowning his sorrows in an LA dive when, gallant to a fault, he comes to the rescue of Lucille, a fading star who owes some frightful Mexicans scads of money.

It takes all of Hole’s ingenuity to uncover what must be the most unusual method of murder in contemporary crime fiction.Richard survives his initial encounter there as he continues to try to prove his innocence, as well as preserve his sanity. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

After another classmate disappears after spending time alone with Richard, it's more important than ever for Richard to prove he's innocent. As the story opens, Norwegian former police detective Harry Hole - severely depressed after the death of his wife Rakel - is in a Los Angeles bar, trying to drink himself numb. There are parasite infestations (think The Last of Us), decapitations and, at one point, the anonymous perp eats a human brain. Needless to say, I can appreciate the thought that Nesbø put into the construction of this story, and I do feel like it is a bit of a clever take on some classic themes.

I’ve enjoyed a couple of Nesbo’s “Harry Hole” stories before, but this one wasn’t quite up to that standard, IMHO. As the school bully, Richard is a somewhat unlikeable character, so I struggled to sympathize with him.

Harry will have to use all his operatives to their full extend and then some, but even then the clock is ticking. I also hope - for the general safety of the planet - that (rather like Grisham's contempt for actual law) Nesbo's biological data is invented for the sake of a good story rather than real! In this 13th instalment in the Harry Hole series, Harry is no longer in the police force - instead, he is in Los Angeles and slowly drinking himself to death due to personal tragedy and his general melancholia. The publisher wrote: "Struck off the force and down and out in Los Angeles, Killing Moon will see Harry Hole drawn back to the city that haunts him to hunt down a killer unlike any other. The grotesque killings intrigue the public, and two journalists vie to get scoops for their newspapers: Mona Daa from VG and Terry Våge from Dagbladet.

There were several red herrings that threw the investigation in the wrong direction and I didn't guess who the murderer really was until it became obvious near the end. We follow Harry through upscale parties to homosexual clubs to the “brownest” of Oslo pubs as he hunts for the truth, interfering with police investigations.Translated by Quentin Bates — The Dancer is Icelandic author Óskar Guðmundsson’s second book translated into English, following The Commandments in 2021. Soon after arriving, Richard becomes a social outcast and is blamed for the disappearance of his classmate Tom. Translated by Ekin Oklap — Daughter of Ashes is the third and possibly final instalment in Italian author Ilaria Tuti’s Teresa Battaglia series. The camaraderie of this team is one of the most pleasing aspects of the book – a counter to Harry’s angst, grief and battle with alcoholism. Richard becomes an outcast amongst his classmates though it’s fair to say that he doesn’t help himself.
