About this deal

This has a lot of the hallmarks of a reverse harem book and while I'm intrigued, I hope this series starts to differentiate itself more. That girl has been dealt a rough hand but everything in her life changes when she meets the Breakers as a kid. They can't just own up to mistakes they make, or maybe admit not knowing the full in's and out's of the truth. Yes, the art of dance is so lovingly portrayed here, so fundamental to the emotional progression of our story and the characters’ development that it becomes a character in and of itself. Rather than sense off the chart hormones between them like I wanted, all I felt was each barb as word by word they made everything worse.

I really don't like split timelines like this in romance because I feel like it breaks up the flow of the story and I usually enjoy one timeline more than the other. I think each chapter being past and present played into that for me as it took awhile to see their connections. The book was phenomenally written and I would definitely recommend this to all the Bully Romance Lovers out there! Now after so many years , she is finally able to achieve her goal and has got admission into the best dance academy ever. This is described beautifully with only a few things being revealed at a time, leaving the reader in a perfect place of knowing nothing but having all the guesses.

It wasn't done terribly here but I still didn't love it and I feel like it pushes authors to use very heavy foreshadowing and we definitely got that here. I tried to keep these at a minimum, but as I am talking about the whole series, it did become a little hard.

She’s the kind of heroine you can admire and root for, the kind of heroine who you empathize with and hurt for. Took me a while to get familiar with all the characters and remember what name goes with what character but after I did, I rolled into the story without much trouble. Characters are diverse and pretty deep and this Step up meets The God Father like story is exactly what I was hoping it would be. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. And OF COURSE is not that simple, but do the guys and the girl just TALK to each other to get to the bottom of it?If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes and the enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you.

It was a really interesting contrast; Pen’s reaction to seeing Xeno, York, Zayn and Dax again – she couldn’t decide if she loved them or hate them – and that made everything much more interesting. You are left with some unanswered questions, including the motivations of the Breakers, and a GIANT cliffy- HOLY SMOKES, that final scene! Flashbacks play a great deal in the first book, and it leads to the reader not only knowing Pen and her men, but also knowing what broke them apart. This ends in a cliffhanger, but damn, that’s a pretty good one because I feel like that’s when the spice really starts! If you’re into your men on the criminal side, who are alpha hot holes, sprinkled in with some enemies to lovers vibes and one thing I cannot forget this series is centred around DANCE! I just don’t get why characters can’t be honest and dish shit out before letting it get blown out of control. Now back together, Pen has to decide if she will forgive, if they can forgive her and if they can love each other again. Freestyle is book one of this new gritty, contemporary reverse harem academy trilogy for 17+ readers and deals with adult themes and some subjects you may find upsetting. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes, and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. These guys are so well articulated, so intimately defined and developed- unique, dimensional, each completely compelling- which is HARD for RH. Dance might have brought us back together, but it’s going to take more than a beautiful routine to keep us all alive. With have only read this book, I am in love with her writing style and this storyline that she has created. There were times where I had to re-read a sentence a few times to understand how the body was moving. I don’t really know who exactly my favourite is, but I do have a soft spot for Dax that is for sure. This one really sets us up with the back story and where Pen is at now with the convergence of her past and present. And while the first book is the tamest of them all, it’s in Lyrical, book two that things start to heat up.
